Derek West is Director, Derivatives Oversight at Quebec’s Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) set up to implement derivatives regulation in Quebec. He directed the drafting of Quebec's new regulatory framework for derivatives markets, and is responsible for its implementation and ongoing development.

Mr West is the Chairman of the Canadian Securities Administrators’ Derivatives Committee. He participates in several IOSCO Task Forces as well as the Canadian Heads of Agencies Derivatives Working Group.

Mr West joined the AMF from the National Futures Association in Chicago where he was Director of Strategic Planning and Development for the industry-wide self-regulatory organisation for the U.S. futures industry.

A graduate of the University of Ottawa, he divides his time between Chicago and Montreal.
