Recovery and Resolution Plans (RRPs) are central to the global regulatory response to the financial crisis led by the G20 and the Financial Stability Board. The reforms will, it is hoped, create a safer and more transparent financial system. Mandatory central counterparty (CCP) clearing will significantly increase the amount of risk concentrated in clearinghouses so they must also have effective recovery and resolution planning programmes in place.
