A complimentary webinar April 10th
In a webinar market participants discuss the challenges the industry has faced in moving to CCP clearing and offer advice to other financial institutions as they gear up to meet upcoming US deadlines in June, September and those under EMIR in Europe.
The first deadline for CCP clearing of IRS and index CDS for category 1 financial institutions has come and gone but now other derivatives market participants, including buy-side institutions and non-swap participants, must prepare to meet their upcoming mandatory CCP clearing deadlines under Dodd-Frank. Firms classified as either category 2 or category 3 organizations, who have until June 10th or Sept 9th to prepare for CCP clearing, have the opportunity to learn from those who have already made the move to CCP clearing.
In a webinar one month after the first CCP clearing deadline, a panel of market participants will discuss the operational, technological and logistical challenges faced as the first group moved to CCP clearing in March. The panel will also discuss how the CCP clearing space is still evolving and how specific issues/debates, such as the protection of customer assets, collateral management and futurization of swaps are unfolding. Webinar attendees will benefit from the frank discussion of challenges faced and hear advice from participants that will assist other financial institutions as they prepare for CCP clearing ahead of the upcoming Dodd-Frank deadlines and in Europe under EMIR.
The panel will discuss the following questions:
- · What have some of the unintended consequences been? How has market reacted? What has been the regulators response?
- · Has there been a reduction in trading? How is the regulation impacting trading decisions?
- · How are the implications to collateral management unfolding?
- · Practical challenges – what processing or documentation challenges are market participants encountering? Is onboarding as a process straightforward?
- · Have the phase I participants been satisfied with LSOC? Or are they seeking different models for protection of assets?
- · There have been industry discussions regarding the “futurization” of this market, how do you see this playing out?
- · Even with the move to clearing, execution currently remains bi-lateral. How do you think Swap Execution Facilities (SEFs) will change the market?
- · What advice would you give new market participants entering OTC clearing in phases II and III?
Audience members will have the opportunity to ask the panel questions in this live webinar.
