ABOUT US
DerivSource (DS) was established by seasoned financial journalist, Julia Schieffer, over a decade ago and has earned its reputation today as a leading online information source. The DS community has grown to over 15k members globally who rely on our trend analysis, peer commentary, and variety of educational resources to stay informed in this fast-paced market. Our members represent a wide geographical and professional demographic from buy and sell side financial institutions, asset servicers, law firms, consultancies, and solutions vendors.
As the industry and regulation evolved, so did DS’s coverage and analysis. Initially and to this day covering at a core level, pre and post trade operations, regulatory compliance, risk management and technology. Since then, DS has expanded to support the new needs of the readership including insight into topics such as ESG-linked derivatives, digital assets and infrastructure (crypto custody, DLT, AI/ML) and new market developments. Always on the front foot, DS was one of the first trade publications to cover Bitcoin derivatives back in 2014.
DS continues to provide industry analysis, commentary, and informational resources to our readership via multiple mediums including features and commentary articles, expert Q&As, live/virtual events, video interviews and the popular DerivSource podcast.
In October 2021, Markets Media Group acquired DerivSource to extend the companies reach giving it a deep expertise and network in the OTC derivatives and post-trade space.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER – JULIA SCHIEFFER
Julia Schieffer is a financial journalist specialising in the securities industry, derivatives processing, regulation and technology. Having worked both in the US and UK, Julia has covered all areas within the industry – investment management, capital markets, asset servicing, and solution vendors.
Julia contributes trend analysis and educational articles for DerivSource regularly and is omnipresent within the industry, which ensures DerivSource members get relevant and regular industry insight.
Prior to founding DerivSource, Julia was managing editor of Operations Management, a publication focused on the securities industry and owned by Institutional Investor News (Euromoney). She has also contributed to other industry publications including Financial News, The Fund Business, and publications at Incisive Media. She is previously held the role Group Board Member at Women in Listed Derivatives (WILD) in London until 2021.
