Eris Exchange, a US-based futures exchange offering capital efficient swap futures, today announced that, on September 5, USD Interest Rate Swap Futures achieved a daily volume record of 21,014 contracts, representing more than $2.1 billion in notional value. The previous daily volume record was 13,252 contracts set on June 21, 2013.
Total open interest in Eris Exchange USD Interest Rate Swap Futures also rose by 4,651 to an all-time high of 129,776, representing 143% growth in open interest in the past 12 months.
80% of Friday’s volume occurred in 10-year Eris Standards and 16% in 5-year Eris Standards. 96% of Friday’s trades were matched in the Exchange’s anonymous, central limit order book, including 12,408 contracts that traded as calendar spreads.
Eris Standard Swap Futures are quarterly, IMM-dated contracts with fixed coupons that can be held as futures until maturity.
