OTP Bank, the banking arm of the OTP Group, the Magyar universal financial services group, has gone live with SunGard’s Valdi trading and order management suite of solutions.
OTP Bank chose the Valdi order management system to help improve the dealing and supervision of its trading activities. The bank’s trading floor will also use the multi-asset Valdi front-end to connect to the Budapest Stock Exchange for trading equities, commodities and derivatives.
In addition, OTP Bank plans to add access to the Frankfurt Stock Exchange’s Xetra trading platform, as well as international markets through Valdi. The firm will also offer brokerage activities through the SunGard Global Network (SGN) for clients interested in trading stocks and contracts listed on the Budapest Stock Exchange.
Robert Barlai, managing director at OTP Bank, said, “We implemented SunGard’s Valdi and SGN solutions in order to help automate our trading floor operations. These solutions are helping our trading floor function more effectively on the Budapest Stock Exchange while helping the bank to expand its trading activities beyond Hungary and better serve international clients. We are confident in SunGard’s experience and expertise in Central and Eastern Europe as trading activity in the region consolidates onto fewer venues and as trading platforms evolve. SunGard’s scalable solutions will support our business in the years to come, both in Hungary and abroad.”
Philippe Carré, global head of connectivity for SunGard’s capital markets business, said, “SunGard’s trading and connectivity solutions help OTP Bank and other firms that have expanded beyond their home countries to operate in the wider region and address the coming challenges of further integration in Central and Eastern Europe.”
