Baton Systems (“Baton”), a provider of distributed ledger-based post-trade solutions for capital markets, has appointed Alex Knight as Head of EMEA. Knight, an FX banking industry veteran, joins Baton during a time of global expansion and will help build on the rapid adoption of its payment infrastructure in Europe by several of the world’s leading banks and clearinghouses.
Knight brings 18 years of experience at Citi, where he held various leadership positions in the UK, Asia and Australia, playing a key role in the development of Citi’s Foreign Exchange Prime Brokerage businesses, where he held global responsibility for sales and client coverage. Prior to Citi, he was Head of European Sales at SS&C Technologies, a multinational financial technology company.
“Alex’s wealth of knowledge and deep connections with broader banking and financial institutions in Europe will be instrumental in helping Baton to automate the movement of assets across the financial system,” said Andres Choussy, President and COO at Baton Systems. “Baton is at a crucial stage of its growth and Alex’s experience across FX and derivatives markets will enable us to more quickly build on the Company’s platform that has already established a strong reputation in the European market.”
“Excessive funding costs, operational inefficiencies, and risk all create a significant drag on financial markets participants. Technology can be used to mitigate these pressures,” said Knight. “Baton has evolved as one of the industry’s most innovative financial technology firms, solving inefficiencies in legacy payments systems in a practical way, and I look forward to driving the expansion of its business in Europe.”
Baton currently has offices in Fremont, CA, New York and India. Once the office in London is open, they plan to expand into Singapore in 2021.
