Sophis, a leading provider of cross-asset, front-to-back portfolio and risk management solutions, today announced the appointment of Eric Bernstein as Northern American coo and Philippe Stephan as head of Business Development.
These two appointments are part of Sophis’s strategy to strongly increase its development in North America. The company’s key products include: RISQUE for investments banks and VALUE for asset managers and hedge funds. Both are based in Sophis’s New York office, their appointment will be followed by more near term hiring to support this strategy.

In their new roles, Bernstein is responsible for Sophis’s North American operations – including Sales and Professional Services – and Stephan is responsible for leveraging Sophis’s partnerships and relationships with third parties including prime brokers, technology companies and consultants.
Bernstein joins Sophis from Linedata Services, where he spent six years in various roles including senior v.p., head of sales in the North America region. Prior to joining Linedata Services, he held positions at PaineWebber as head equity trader for PaineWebber Specialists Inc. in Boston. He also held positions at Melvin Specialists as a market maker and equity trader.
Stephan joins Sophis from Moody’s KMV in San Francisco, where he was managing director. While at Moody’s KMV, he directed product development, building most notably their award winning credit risk management suite. Prior to Moody’s, he held senior technology positions within Société Générale in Paris and Crédit Agricole Lazard Bank in London, building derivatives trading and risk management systems.
