IHS Markit (Nasdaq: INFO), a world leader in critical information, analytics and solutions, today announced that Dr. Andrew Aziz has joined the firm as the global head of Markit Analytics, a provider of capital markets analytics and risk solutions delivered via multiple deployment models including software, managed services and utilities.
Drawing on his two decades of experience in the financial technology industry, most recently at IBM, Andrew will have responsibility for leading the business, product and R&D functions at Markit Analytics.
“As firms address evolving regulatory requirements, the need for versatile and high performance risk analytics tools is growing,” said Yaacov Mutnikas, executive vice president for Financial Market Technologies at IHS Markit. “Andrew will play an important role in looking at how we continue to deliver innovative capital markets analytics and risk solutions that help firms comply and remain competitive.”
IHS Markit recently announced its solution for meeting the Fundamental Review of the Trading Book (FRTB) standards published by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision. A combined data and analytics solution, it includes an innovative risk factor utility (RFU) for managing non-modellable risk factors (NMRFs) and avoiding unnecessary capital penalties.
At IBM, Andrew led strategy, quantitative analytics and research for the risk analytics division. He also held several senior executive management functions at Algorithmics Inc. for 17 years, prior to its acquisition. He regularly speaks at risk management and financial engineering conferences worldwide including RISK, GAIM, RiskMinds, Life & Pensions and GARP.
