September 19 – 23
With world events continuing to impact the financial industry, Sibos 2011 will take stock of the challenges going forward.
Some 30 sessions will examine issues such as Basel III and its impact on trade finance and the world economy, working capital optimization, negotiating the new derivatives landscape, e-invoicing, SEPA, mobile payments, correspondent banking at the crossroads, sanctions & AML, cloud computing, electronic bank account management, securities reference data and emerging markets…
One of Sibos’ unique attributes is its ability to draw so many senior level participants from the financial industry in one place. The conference has established itself as the premier forum to advance critical dialogue on issues facing the financial industry.
This year, we are pleased to announce that Vikram Pandit, Chairman and CEO, Citigroup will give the keynote address. Pandit has been CEO of Citigroup since December 2007.
SIBOS Derivatives Session – Wednesday, Sept 21st
Negotiating the new derivatives landscape: Is this the end for OTC?
It’s all change in the OTC derivatives world. New regulations require a shift from trading over-the-counter to trading on-exchange, the introduction of centralised clearing, and the introduction of reporting to the derivatives trade repositories that are springing up in markets around the world. How are market participants supposed to cope with the operational and cost burdens created by all this change? With regulators seemingly determined to keep ‘exceptions’ to a minimum, will it be worthwhile – or even possible – to strike OTC deals in the future? What does this mean for the derivatives markets, and for established practices such as bilateral collateralization – and what will be the challenges for market participants in their interaction with market infrastructures?
