Experienced global derivatives veteran to head trading and sales for BNY Mellon’s derivatives business
BNY Mellon today announced the appointment of Roderic ("Rod") Prat as global head of derivatives. Prat joins BNY Mellon Global Markets following derivatives-related service as a senior manager with Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank and HSBC. Most recently he was engaged as a consultant to the Governor of the Bank of Canada, leading a project focused on Canadian fixed income markets and related derivatives markets.
In this newly-created position, Prat, 46, is responsible for managing both trading and sales for the derivatives business within BNY Mellon Global Markets. He is based in New York and reports directly to Richard Mahoney, executive vice president and head of BNY Mellon Global Markets.
"Derivatives play an important role in many of the solutions that BNY Mellon provides for its clients. Having someone with Rod’s international experience and extensive product expertise heading our derivatives team will help us leverage our strengths and continue to grow our derivatives business on a global basis," said Richard Mahoney.
A native of Canada, Prat earned his undergraduate degree in economics from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ont., and holds an MBA from the University of Chicago. Following nearly 10 years with Goldman Sachs in Toronto, New York and London, he served as co-head of institutional sales for global markets in EMEA for Deutsche Bank, and later held senior global markets management positions for HSBC in New York and London.
