The International Swaps and Derivatives Association, Inc. (ISDA) today made the following comment on the House of Representatives Agriculture Committee’s efforts in regards to drafting H.R. 977, the Derivatives Markets Transparency and Accountability Act of 2009:
“ISDA appreciates the efforts of the House Committee on Agriculture to address important questions regarding the derivatives markets. Likewise, we thank them for the fair and open way they have conducted this process. However, we remain concerned that parts of H.R. 977 would make it harder for American companies to hedge risk and could potentially lead to less liquid, more volatile markets,” said ISDA.
“We continue to believe policymakers should undertake a holistic approach to modernizing the structure of financial services regulation, and we are committed to continuing to work with the Agriculture Committee on that process.”
