Singapore Exchange (SGX) today announced that it has further strengthened its Operations & Technology (ONT) group by appointing Bob Caisley, executive v.p. and cio; and Vincent Fernando, senior v.p. and head of Market Operations. The new executives will support Muthukrishnan Ramaswami, senior executive v.p. and coo in his charter to deliver reliable IT solutions and services, IT infrastructure planning and governance, market control, clearing and settlement, to depository operations. Fernando will join SGX on January 2nd 2008 and Caisley on January 14th 2008.

Both Bob and Vincent are well-known achievers in their respective fields. Their collective experience will be invaluable as we introduce and implement new technology and operations strategies to propel the growth of SGX," said Ramaswami, senior executive v.p. and coo.
Cio Bob Caisley, 45, will be responsible for managing the Technology group which comprises the functions of IT planning and governance, solutions delivery and services management. Mr Caisley will provide leadership and oversee the development and delivery of proven IT services and new technologies, such as the roll-out of the new Order Management System (OMS) and SGX’s new trading engine in 2008, to serve the needs of the industry well into the future. He will assist Ramaswami in ensuring a robust and reliable technology infrastructure that reinforces SGX’s strategic business and growth plans.
Caisley brings with him a proven track record spanning over 25 years in delivering results from IT project management and operations. He will also provide strategic guidance in technology direction and business development at SGX.
Caisley joins SGX from the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) where he was responsible for the management of all of ASX’s business solutions projects, including the implementation of the Integrated Trading System provided by OMX Technology. Prior to ASX, he was responsible for successful implementations of key IT projects with the Kuwait Investment Office and Commercial Union PLC. Caisley was also project leader for the development and implementation of the UK’s electronic funds transfer system under BACS (Banker Automated Clearing Service) Ltd.
Vincent Fernando, 51, will be responsible for managing the operations of market control, clearing and settlement, and depository operations. Reporting to Chew Hong Gian, executive v.p. and head of Operations, Fernando will lead the design and delivery of best-practice operational services to effectively address the demands of the marketplace. He is also tasked to ensure continuous improvements to the efficiency of operational processes and uphold high standards of regulatory compliance.
Leveraging on 25 years of valuable experience in operational and risk management, Fernando joins SGX from the Citigroup where he started his career. He has led the regional operations hub in Singapore and Malaysia. During his tenure, the regional cash hub in Singapore was recognized for operational excellence and accorded numerous awards such as the prestigious "Singapore Quality Award" (SQA), "Singapore Quality Class" (SQC) and "People Developer" awards. In addition, Fernando brings with him extensive audit experience in the financial sector. In his career, he has also worked in Sri Lanka, India, Hong Kong, and Malaysia. Mr Fernando holds a Master of Business Administration from the Charles Sturt University, Australia.
