The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc. (NYSE: NMX) today announced that it set daily volume records yesterday, including a total daily volume record.
Total contracts traded on CME Globex reached 1,154,219, surpassing the 1,109,933 contracts traded on August 16th.
Crude oil futures totaled 663,740 contracts, exceeding the 626,447 contracts traded on September 6th.
Crude oil options set a new record of 21,426 contracts, topping the previous record of 11,979 contracts on August 16th.
NYMEX launched its physically settled futures contracts for trading on CME Globex during regular open outcry trading hours on September 5, 2006, following its initial offering of financially settled, standard-sized and NYMEX miNY energy futures contracts for trading on CME Globex on June 12, 2006. On December 4, 2006, NYMEX introduced full-sized and COMEX miNY metals futures contracts for side by side trading. Options trading launched on CME Globex on June 25.
