Complimentary Webinar October 2nd 2012
With the G20 clearing deadlines looming and Basel III in the wings, there will be tremendous implications to collateral management practices. In the US and Europe, regulation will require buy-side institutions to centrally clear swaps and meet the higher collateral requirements that come with central clearing. With estimates ranging in the trillions of additional dollars of collateral needed to support trading, how will clients meet these requirements? Across OTC derivatives trading, repo and securities lending, how will the buy-side change its trading and collateral management strategies? What will be permitted in terms of netting? Against this backdrop comes the addition of Basel III which makes bank balance sheet use more restricted and therefore expensive.
In a complimentary webinar, a panel of experts will explore how workflow for collateral management is shaping up for both bilateral and cleared swaps in the wake of regulatory changes and the introduction of central clearing for OTC derivatives. The panel will discuss how evolving regulatory changes will impact both operational workflow and business decisions including asset protection via collateral segregation, collateral transformation services and capital requirements.
The panel will review the following topics:
• Processing both Bilateral & CCP Margin Obligations – managing collateral obligations for both bilateral and cleared swaps in tandem and efficiently
• Cross Margining – how will the function exist in the new CCP space? What are the operational changes investment managers need to make to prepare for cross margining and netting
• Collateral Transformation – what are the mechanics, risks and opportunities of collateral upgrade and related services that are needed to address the mandate for high-grade assets to meet CCP margin requirements
• Customer Asset Protection/Collateral Segregation – how will the models evolve and what is the best option for the buy side? (LSOC versus full segregation)
• CCP Eligibility for Margin & CCP Evolution – should the list of margin eligible assets be expanded? How are CCPs evolving and how will upcoming changes or services impact asset managers who are not direct clearing members?
· Basel III – how will new capital requirements impact the collateral market?
• Looking Ahead: How can firms implement new operational changes amidst ongoing market changes impacting collateral management?
By the end of this hour-long webcast, the audience will have a better understanding of how collateral management workflow must change to support regulatory initiatives and CCP clearing whilst also gaining valuable and practical insight into the current challenges they face in adapting collateral management processes to comply with this new OTC derivatives landscape.
A Q&A session with the audience and panel speakers will be held after the roundtable discussion to allow for interaction between the panel and attendees.
